I think what it means to be an AI company is not to make a foundation model. I think it’s to reshape a company with the idea that AI can change a lot of the stuff that makes a company shitty.

What’s the primary thing that makes a company shitty? Scale. They just get big. Dunbar, it’s past the Dunbar number. You have all these weird bureaucracies and principal-agent problems and you get cancers and, you know, it’s just annoying and too many meetings and overhead, and it just sucks. if you can stay below the Dunbar number, (and maybe it’s different if it’s remote versus in person) […]

[…] but the power there is if AI allows you to have less people doing a lot more, and therefore you have a lot less meetings, a lot less people, and a lot less bullshit, I think that’s what it means to be an AI company, is you can be fundamentally smaller and more humane in the same sort of social setups we’ve been set up for a long time.

Using AI and computers to make more, smaller, humane objects and systems and organizations by focusing on the right thing.

Using AI to enhance individual groups’ agency and curiosity.
